DB6 Vantage S
Once overshadowed by the „James Bond“ DB5, the Aston Martin DB6 Vantage is today increasingly appreciated by connoisseurs for its elegant Touring of Milan-designed bodywork and its distinctive Italian flair. The Aston Martin DB6 Vantage occupies a pivotal place in Aston Martin’s history as the final and most developed expression of the marque’s celebrated DB-series six-cylinder grand tourers. Introduced in the 1960s as an evolution of the iconic DB5, the DB6 refined the formula with improved practicality, aerodynamics and high-speed comfort, while the Vantage specification added a more sporting character.
Today, it is widely regarded as one of the most significant and desirable classic grand tourers, representing the culmination of an era that helped define Aston Martin’s reputation for combining performance, elegance and long-distance touring capability.
This particular car is one of just 21 factory-built left-hand-drive DB6 Vantage examples, making it one of the rarest road-going Aston Martins of its era.
Its body was built using Touring of Milan’s celebrated Superleggera construction method: lightweight aluminium panels hand-formed over a framework of small-diameter steel tubes. The result was a car that combined elegance, strength and remarkably low weight for its size.
While a standard DB6 Vantage left Newport Pagnell with Aston Martin’s well-known 4.0-litre straight-six, this example has been developed far beyond factory specification. Beneath the bonnet sits a highly developed 4.4-litre engine breathing through three Weber twin-choke carburettors and producing in excess of 350 horsepower.
What makes this car particularly special is that it has been uncompromisingly optimised for long-distance touring and regular rally use. Over the years it has successfully participated in numerous renowned classic events, including the Hessen Klassik, Silvretta Classic, Ennstal-Classic and many others. The car has been maintained and continuously developed for more than 20 years by the same technician, becoming part of the family and benefiting from an exceptional level of care, knowledge and continuity.
The character remains unmistakably Aston Martin: effortless torque, a mechanical soundtrack unique to the Tadek Marek straight-six and long-legged grand touring ability. Yet the additional displacement and power transform the car’s performance, delivering a level of pace and flexibility that even the original Vantage could only hint at.
Combining the elegance of Touring’s Superleggera coachwork, the rarity of a left-hand-drive Vantage, proven long-distance rally pedigree and the performance of a thoroughly developed 4.4-litre engine, this DB6 represents a uniquely compelling interpretation of one of Aston Martin’s most admired models.
